Each year American River Group of Companies hosts a “Welcoming Home Our Heroes” Golf Outing to honor returning Long Island Veterans. The goal of this outing is to recognize, honor and care for the individuals in the local community who have served in the defense or have otherwise served the people of the United States of America. The outing acknowledges the contributions and sacrifices of these returning veterans by providing support and financial assistance.

Since its inception in 2008, WHOH, a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, has raised over $337,000 from our sponsors, donors and participants. This money has been used to provide valuable support to 14 very special wounded Long Island based Military veteran “Heroes” and their families, with bill payments, educational funding and disability enhancements. In 2012, we raised sufficient funds to assist four Heroes! At this year’s outing held August 20th, we recognized four heroes and raised over $70,000
Each of our Heroes was selected in close association with the staff at the Veterans Administration (VA) of Northport, LI. Each Hero suffered significant injuries in the line of duty while protecting the United States. The WHOH financial support provides our Heroes with much needed relief as they get themselves and their families back into the routine of everyday life.
